George Clooney caused quite a stir when he attended the opening night gala of Michael Clayton at the Dubai International Film Festival. He was at a press conference and photo-call earlier in the day and later attended "In Conversation with George Clooney".

In addition to promoting the Michael Clayton movie George also wanted to bring further attention to the situation in war torn Darfar. He told Variety.com "Places like Dubai and Egypt, which are moderate Arab societies, seem like the best places to try and find common ground and get Muslims to talk about Muslim issues, as opposed to just the rest of us talking about them,"

"We're going to have to find a place where we can reach out and cross over our cultures to remember that everybody wants the same basic things for the most part."

Clooney narrated and executively produced Sand And Sorrow, a documentary about the crisis in Darfar, helped establish Not On Our Watch foundation which raised proceeds for Sudanese refugees stuck on the borders of Chad and Sudan, he visited Darfur with his father to shoot footage of the humanitarian crisis.
