BMW X6 3.0d It looks like BMW is back on track again with its latest models including the 135i Coupe and next years 4x4 must have the X6. The X6 is set to directly challenge the current dominent players in the sports luxury 4 wheel drive off roader market. These include the Range Rover Sport and Porsche Cayenne.
The X6 is refered to as a Sports Activity Coupé, the X6 combines the looks of a coupé with the ruggedness of a top end SUV. The X6 is Virtually unchanged from the active hybrid concept which BMW revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The BMW X6 is quite different from the BMW X5 and X3 models and every body panel is unique. The coupe roofline and single piece hatchback provide pretty stunning lines. The X6 reminds me of the Nissan Infinity FX35 and FX45 models which are very popular in the US. The X6 accommodates four people, with seats for only two in the back. The X6 coupé is based on the X5 platform, but also gets Dynamic Performance Control (DPC) to enhance traction and stability. The completely new system builds on the benefits offered by the XDrive 4x4 drive train. The rear track is widened and carries massive 20 inch alloy wheels as standard. BMW X6 3.0d sleek lines The BMW X6 has a new eight speed automatic gearbox with steering wheel mounted paddles. The X6 3.0d is powered by a 290bhp 3.0 litre twin turbo diesel engine. Buyers will also be offered a 400bhp version of the 4.8 litre V8 from the X5 range. Starting prices for the X6 are expected to be around £45,000 in the UK. The BMW X6 and is due out early 2008. I am certainly keen to get my hands on one. |
